The Day of Purity is a Project of Liberty Counsel www.LC.orgworking with various supporters here in the UK  ’The Day of Purity’ on February 14th 2012 is a day when youth can make a public demonstration of their commitment to remain sexually pure, in mind and actions. Today’s culture encourages youth to become sexually active at a young age and to experiment with sexual preferences.

What is the Day of Purity you might be wondering? It is a day in which anyone can publicly demonstrate that you have chosen to live a pure lifestyle, because you know that you are worth the wait. This is not only important before marriage, but to keep living a life of purity in mind and action after marriage to keep that relationship healthy.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHT – STEVE STEVENS DFC  ONE  OF THE FOUNDERS

BACKS DAY OF PURITY

I am launching this website to encourage and challenge you to take practical steps to fight not only for our youth’s future, but for our country.  I was a rocket- firing Beaufighter pilot  during World War II, against the Nazi onslaught dedicated to destroy civilisation.  Today there is a warfare not  of guns and planes,  but of words and philosophy to destroy our civilisation.

In the early 70’s I was challenged by our Lord to be involved in launching a National – indeed International outcry against the the darkness of depravity. ”The Festival of Light

With the Trumpet call of Love, Purity and Family life, the Nationwide Festival of Light (Nfol) managed to mobilise tens of thousands of people throughout Britain for public rallies, torchlight processions and meetings throughout Britain. Tens of thousands participated in  public rallies and meetings across the UK.

The permissive 60′s pierced our Christian heritage. Today the situation is far more serious, perversion is rampant and even Christian consciences have been seared with compromise.  I urge you all to take up the baton and fight the good fight of faith and stand up to prevent our Nation collapsing.

Steve Stevens, DFC

Founder of the National Festival of Light 1971

NEWS ALERT

THE Government came under sustained attack this week from a coalition of Christian groups and individuals over its plans to legalise same-sex marriage.

The coalition’s petition attracted about 23,000 signatures within 48 hours of its launch, including those of the Bishops of Carlisle, Chester, Exeter, and Hereford.

The Coalition for Marriage, established by the Christian Institute, with signatories from senior officials of Care, the Evangelical Alliance, Christian Concern, and other organisations, accuses the Government of rewriting the legal definition of marriage without widespread public support for the change.

It commissioned a survey by ComRes, which reported that 51 per cent of those surveyed agreed that “no one has the right to redefine marriage for the rest of us.”

The campaign has won the support of the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey. He told the Daily Mail that the Government’s plans “constitute one of the greatest political power grabs in history” and a “hostile strike” against traditional marriage.

Lord Carey described the plans as an act of “cultural and theological vandalism” against an institution dating back thousands of years.

Among the signatories to the petition are the Roman Catholic Labour peer Lord Brennan QC, the former Lord Chancellor Lord Mackay of Clashfern, who is a Free Presbyterian, and a cross-party group of MPs. Prominent in the list are also Anglican clergy and General Synod members, many of them Evangelicals.

Lord Brennan said: “Same-sex couples have all the legal rights they need in the form of civil partnerships. But, if marriage is redefined, many others will begin to lose their rights, especially the Churches, who, whatever reassurances the Government may offer, will be challenged again and again in the courts for refusing to solemnise same-sex marriages.”

The Equalities Minister, Lynne Featherstone, is due to publish a formal consultation document on how to legalise same-sex marriage by 2015; the issue is said to be regarded by the Prime Minister as a defining one for his leadership. His office said that Mr Cameron’s support for a change in the law was unwavering, despite the momentum of the petition.

He had hoped that insisting that there would be provision for Churches to opt out of solemnising marriages in their premises would prevent splits over the issue in the Commons and the Lords.

The director of the Christian Institute, Colin Hart, said: “The Home Secretary has made clear that the government consultation will be about ‘how’, not ‘whether’, to redefine marriage; and the Prime Minister says it is not a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’. When will the 24 million married people in this country get to have their say? This is profoundly anti-democratic. The Government is running away from this public debate. They are bulldozing ahead without any thought for the consequences.

“The word ‘marriage’ appears 3258 times in UK legislation. It is woven into the fabric of our national laws. That can’t be just unpicked in a single stroke.”

The gay-rights activist Peter Tatchell said, however, that the Coalition for Marriage was “out of touch with public opinion”, and that the ban on same-sex marriage was “discrimination”.

Dr Sentamu, an alumnus and Hon. Fellow of Selwyn College, Cambridge, received a letter from current undergraduates there concerned about his recent comments in opposition to same-sex marriage (News, 3 February).

In its letter, the college’s Junior Common Room said that it was “surprised” by Dr Sentamu’s comments, given his support for the notion that homosexual relationships should not be treated as inferior to heterosexual relationships. His arguments comparing the Government’s proposal to legalise same-sex marriage to the actions of a dictator were “completely unfounded”, and he should “reconsider” his choice of words.

Dr Sentamu’s office said that he would respond to the students privately in due course.

An attempt by the gay-rights group Stonewall to have the words “husband” and “wife” wiped from the statute book and replaced with “parties to a marriage” has been separately condemned by the groups that make up the Coalition.

Stonewall released a draft Bill this week, intended as a “model” for the Marriage Bill due later this year, calling for spouses to be known as “parties to a marriage” to avoid confusion for homosexual couples. Source – http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/content.asp?id=124863

The Government was urged to support marriage this week in its upcoming budget. A think tank, founded by the Work and Pensions Secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, has reported that tax breaks for married couples would do more to fight poverty than Liberal Democrat plans to increase the income tax threshold.

The Chancellor, George Osborne, is reported to be considering a married couple’s tax allowance as a way of supporting families.

NEWS ALERT : MARANATHA TRUMPET CALL

FACT

  • Channel 4 has screened 2 of a 4-programme series ‘The Joy of Teen Sex’ (seehttp://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-joy-of-teen-sex/4od#3155710
WARNING – content is highly offensive. The next programme is due to be shown this week).
  • The programme features unmarried teenagers speaking of their sex lives, actively encouraged by a doctor, social worker and ‘therapist’. There is no mention of faithfulness, marriage, prevention of disease or pregnancy. Sex is presented as a recreational activity totally divorced from any moral responsibility. Child sex is presented as normal and desirable – something to be celebrated.
  • The programmes contain foul language and depict full frontal nudity, sexual intercourse, anal and oral sex and deviant sexual practices.
  • The broadcast is during normal viewing hours, although after the 9pm watershed.

These programmes are an act of unbelievable irresponsibility by Channel 4. They are overtly pornographic and are aimed at the young. At a time when many families are disintegrating and vast numbers of children and young people are suffering the pain and consequences of damaged human relationships, these broadcasts trivialise intimacy and the inherent desire within human nature for healthy, mature, fulfilling and stable relationships, and use teenagers for entertainment. When our teenage population is known to have the highest rates of abortion and sexually transmitted diseases, Channel 4 is actively promoting promiscuity and a lifestyle which has proved to be a destructive influence on our society, especially on our children and young people.

Children and young people are undoubtedly being harmed and corrupted by this series. Some are calling it child abuse.

ACTION

We CANNOT remain silent in the face of this assault upon the young. Will you PLEASE act today? Are you prepared to remain silent in the face of this programme? Two shows have already been broadcast and two further ones are planned.

  • Write now to your Member of Parliament and ask him/her what they are prepared to do to stop the remaining two broadcasts in this series.
  • Write now to the Chief Executive of Channel 4: David Abraham, Channel 4, PO BOX 1058, Belfast BT1 9DU calling for the series to be cancelled and tell him that this is a step too far.
  • Write now to OFCOM Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA, or online here, pointing out that this progamme is pornographic.
  • Bring this to the attention of your priest/pastor/minister/bishop/superintendant
  • NOTE: this programme could not be broadcast without money from the advertisers. Please write to the heads of the companies which supported this programme by their adverts (email us for a list). They may not be aware of this fact. Remind them of their responsibilities to the young.

Final note

We need to make it very clear that it is neither normal nor natural for children to have sex with children, for children to have children, for children to have abortions, for children to have sexually transmitted disease, for children and young people to be sexualized by pornography in the media. Jesus gives stern warning of the judgment of God on those who harm the young.

PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS SONG....BY KIND PERMISSION FROM NOEL ROBINSON...A BIG THANK YOU
